Back 2 Africa.. Continued
BACK 2 Africa…
As I recently wrote, I’ve been funded to return to West Africa, traveling to Guinea Bissau for a few months to teach, perform, produce music:
I’ll be leaving November 29th, to go early and hang in Dakar for a bit beforehand. Once again, I’m doing some charity effort, seeking donations of:
Musical instruments, audio & studio gear, computers and peripherals, used ipods and cell phones, and any shoes or clothing that people would like to donate.
I’ve already received donations of a laptop, some choice audio and studio gear, and cell phones. THANKS GUYS!!!
I do have a special request for a student who I worked with in Dakar, who plays Alto saxophone. His current horn is not really cutting it, but he practices hours every day, plays in a couple of projects that keep him busy. Saxophone is already an impossible instrument (really), so I’m trying to get a donation of a Yamaha YAS-26, or another student model in good shape. I can afford to have it fixed up before leaving, but if anyone wants to donate a sax, or chip in to get one for Mamadou Gueye, I’m sure it will make his year. They run around $4-600 used.
As I did previously, photos and follow ups will be provided for anybody making donations. I know everyone and their mother is asking for charity nowadays, so I appreciate whatever you can spare…
